This 1967 Chevrolet Camaro was built as a Pike’s Peak racer by Absolute Engineering of Goleta, California in 2017 and is powered by a 400ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in blue with green stripes and features a Donovan aluminum engine block, Edelbrock cylinder heads, a front air dam, a fiberglass hood, four-wheel disc brakes, a roll cage, Momo seats with Schroth harnesses, a fire suppression system, a fuel cell, and more. This Camaro is offered on consignment by the selling dealer in California with build photos and a clean Montana title.
Originally Bolero Red, the body was refinished in its current blue with green rally stripes in 2016. Modifications include a front air dam, a rear spoiler, a plexiglass windshield and rear window, replacement headlamps and taillights, tow hooks, and a fiberglass lift-off hood with retaining pins. American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are mounted with 16″ Nitto NT01 tires showing 2017 date codes. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes featuring Wilwood calipers and slotted front rotors, while the suspension is said to have been rebuilt with Delrin bushings and Koni shocks.
The stripped interior is painted grey and features a roll cage, Momo racing seats with Schroth harnesses, a Longacre steering wheel, an ESS fire suppression system, and an X2 RaceKey transponder. The transmission tunnel houses an extended Hurst shifter and a sheet metal box with toggle switches.
AutoMeter instrumentation includes gauges for oil pressure and temperature, fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage along with oil pressure and coolant temperature warning lights in a custom enclosure. A 22-gallon ATL fuel cell and an Edelbrock electric fuel pump are mounted in the trunk.
The 400ci V8 is reportedly built on a Donovan aluminum block and features:
- SCAT forged crankshaft and Oliver forged steel connecting rods
- Mahle pistons
- Edelbrock roller camshaft
- Edelbrock Victor Jr. 64cc cylinder heads
- Baffled aluminum oil pan, oil cooler, oil accumulator, and remote filter
- Holley XP 850-cfm double-pumper carburetor on Edelbrock intake manifold
- Doug’s headers and Borla exhaust system
- ATI Super Damper
- MSD Pro-Billet distributor, ignition controller, Blaster coil, and wires
- Powermaster alternator
- Aluminum radiator with SPAL electric fan
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tilton flywheel and mult-disc ceramic clutch, a four-speed Muncie M23 manual transmission from Auto Gear Equipment, an aluminum driveshaft, and a 3.55:1 differential which is said to have been rebuilt by Coastal Differential of Ventura, California.
