This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 was sold new by Bob Peck Chevrolet of Arlington, Virginia. Power is supplied by a numbers-matching 302ci V8 paired with a replacement Muncie four-speed manual transmission, and the car has been refinished in red with white stripes over a red vinyl interior. Features include the Z/28 package, 15″ Rally wheels, front and rear spoilers, front bucket seats, a Delco push-button AM radio, and woodgrain trim. The car was acquired by the seller in December 2017, and service under current ownership reportedly included rebuilding the Holley carburetor, fitting Pertronix electronic ignition, and replacing the brakes, shocks, and ball joints. This Z/28 is now offered with a Protect-O-Plate, an NCRS shipping-data report, spare parts, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Matador Red (RR) and reportedly was repainted under prior ownership. Features include Z/28 badging, white stripes, front and rear spoilers, chrome bumpers and trim, and a driver-side mirror.
Silver-finished 15″ Rally wheels wear chrome hubcaps and beauty rings and are wrapped in Goodyear Wide Tread GT tires that are said to have been fitted recently. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums that reportedly were replaced under current ownership. Additional work has included replacing the shocks, ball joints, and suspension bushings as well as fitting a quick-ratio steering box. The removed steering box is included in the sale.
The cabin features front bucket and rear bench seats trimmed in red vinyl along with a matching dash, door panels, and carpeting. Appointments include lap belts, woodgrain trim, red rubber floor mats, and a Delco push-button AM radio. The dome light is inoperable.
A red-trimmed steering wheel fronts a column-mounted Sunpro tachometer, and factory instrumentation consists of a tachometer with an inset clock, a 120-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges housed in the console. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added under current ownership. The factory tachometer is disconnected, and the clock is inaccurate. The seller notes that the removed walnut wood-rimmed steering wheel as well as a quartz clock conversion kit will accompany the vehicle.
The numbers-matching 302ci V8 is said to have been refreshed under prior ownership and is equipped with plenum air induction, a Holley 800cfm carburetor, Pertronix electronic ignition, heavy-duty pushrods, and replacement rocker arms. An oil change and coolant flush were performed in preparation for the sale.
Engine-stamping sequence 8N363473 matches the last eight characters of the vehicle’s chassis number. Additional casting numbers and stamps are pictured in the gallery below. The Protect-O-Plate shown in the gallery lists the vehicle’s chassis number with the last two digits transposed.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a replacement Muncie M-22 four-speed manual transmission and a rebuilt 12-bolt rear axle with a Richmond ring-and-pinion 3.73:1 gearset. Recent service included transmission and differential fluid changes.
