This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro has been recently upgraded with a fuel injected 507 ci big block V8 and an overdrive automatic transmission built to handle the engine’s torque. The build features a GM steel crank, GM high performance rods, Canfield square port aluminum heads, and more detailed below. Suspension and brakes were also updated to cope with the increased power. The paint and interior have been recently refurbished and the car is in very good driver condition overall. With vastly improved power, handling, and braking over stock this Camaro was built to work as well on the drag strip as on a winding road.
The exterior is in excellent condition with a recent exterior restoration and Z/28 stripes, spoiler, and emblems. Originally Butternut Yellow the car was given a thorough color change to silver with black hood and deck lid stripes. Wheels are custom built Cragars sized 17×8 in the front and 17×9 in the rear, with 275/40R17 DOT legal Nitto NT05R drag radials. A cowl induction style hood is installed. Both bumpers are straight with very good chrome and all lights and exterior trim are in good condition.
The interior has all new carpets and two-tone upholstery. An aftermarket center console armrest and cupholder is included and the dash has been customized to allow the installation of a full set of Auto Meter gauges. A replacement dash pad is in place but the fitment needs to be adjusted. A Pioneer CD player is installed with new speakers behind the rear seats and a subwoofer in the trunk.
The nicely restored engine bay houses a big block Chevy V8 freshly built with the following:
- 507 ci World Products Merlin II block with 4.500″ bore
- GM steel crank
- GM high performance rods
- Forged flat top pistons
- Canfield 345 cc square port aluminum heads
- Fast fuel injection system
- Fast distributor and ignition
- 2″ long tube Hooker headers
- Custom 2 1/2″ exhaust
The cooling system, transmission, suspension, and brakes were built to help cope with the extra power:
- Electric high power fan

- Custom built 4L65-E overdrive automatic transmission with full manual valve body
- 12 bolt Posi differential with 3.73 gears

The car has been driven very little since the upgrades were completed and has yet to make a quarter mile run.
The paint was job was completed approximately a year ago and there was no rust or body damage on the chassis. The cosmetic updates provide a great look and the monster motor with upgraded suspension and brakes make this a great driver 1st generation Camaro.
