This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe is finished in metallic blue over black vinyl and powered by a 383ci stroker V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a Positraction differential, front disc brakes, 15″ Boyd Coddington wheels, Hedman tubular headers with an aftermarket exhaust system, and an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold paired with a Holley carburetor. The car was acquired by the seller in California in September 2015 and service since March 2021 included replacing the alternator and battery. This Malibu is now offered with service records, manufacturer’s literature, cleaning products, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The Chevelle was re-styled for the 1971 model year and changes included a reworked grille and front bumper, single-unit headlights, and circular tail lights integrated into the chrome rear bumper. This example was repainted metallic blue during previous ownership, and a chip in the windshield is depicted in the gallery.
Polished 15″ Boyd Coddington wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car is equipped with front disc brakes, and the seller states the front springs and spindles were replaced during current ownership.
The cabin features two rows of bench seats that were retrimmed in black vinyl with pleated inserts during current ownership, along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. An Alpine cassette stereo is mounted in the stock location, though the seller states the speakers in the cabin were removed during prior ownership, and wiring for previously mounted subwoofers remains in the trunk.
An aftermarket four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary Summit gauges mounted under the dashboard. The five-digit odometer is said to have rolled over and shows 12k miles. The seller added approximately 7k miles during their six-year ownership, and total mileage is unknown. The speedometer and fuel level gauge read inaccurately.
This 383ci stroker V8 was reportedly installed in June 2016 and is equipped with a polished Edelbrock air cleaner, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, and Hedman tubular headers that connect to an aftermarket exhaust system utilizing an x-pipe. The seller notes the alternator and battery was replaced in March 2021, and an oil change was performed in October 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed TH350 automatic transmission and a Positraction differential. Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery below.
Service records, manufacturer’s literature, and an assortment of cleaning products are included in the sale.
