This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 coupe is powered by a numbers-matching 396ci L34 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car was produced at GM’s Baltimore, Maryland, facility, and it was purchased by the seller in 1989. A subsequent refurbishment completed in 1997 included body repairs, a repaint in blue, chassis refinishing, and a rebuild of the engine. Equipment includes an electronic ignition, an aftermarket CD player, a center console, and bucket seats. This Chevelle SS is now offered with records and photos of the refurbishment and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Marina Blue (FF), the body was refinished in the 1990s, at which time the frame was refinished separately and several body and floor panels were replaced. SS-specific trim includes a blacked-out grille, a unique hood with faux twin scoops, 396 badging on the front fenders, SS396 emblems on the grille and rear cove, Super Sport script on the rear quarter panels, and ribbed rocker-panel moldings.
Body-color 14″ steel wheels are accented by SS-branded wheel covers and mounted with reproduction Goodyear Polyglas red-stripe tires. A spare is stored in the trunk.
Interior finishes include black vinyl upholstery (763) over the bucket seats and rear bench, which are complemented by matching door panels and trim. The center console houses a clock positioned ahead of the shifter, and a Jensen CD player is mounted inside the glovebox.
Instrumentation includes a tachometer, a horizontal-sweep speedometer, and a five-digit odometer that reads 54k miles. Total mileage is unknown. The Delco radio and windshield washer pump are inoperative.
The 396ci L34 V8 was rebuilt in 1990 according to the seller, who notes that service completed in the past two years included installation of a Pertronix ignition system and replacement of the radiator, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, and ignition wires. A fuel supply line to the carburetor is said to require replacement.
The engine’s stamping pad includes the sequence 7B175829, which matches the last eight digits of the vehicle’s serial number. The EF suffix code corresponds with a 396ci L34 V8 engine rated for 350 horsepower and paired with a manual transmission and a heavy-duty clutch.
