This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu sport coupe underwent a refurbishment in 2009 and was purchased by the seller in 2010. A 396ci V8 has been installed along with a Muncie four-speed manual transmission, and the car is finished in red over black vinyl. Features include four-wheel disc brakes, American Racing 17″ wheels, front and rear coil-spring suspension, a 12-bolt Positraction rear end, power steering, Super Sport badging, dual exhaust, tubular headers, front bucket seats, an aftermarket AM/FM radio, and auxiliary gauges. This modified Chevelle is now offered with an owner’s manual and a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name.
The car was finished from the factory in Bolero Red with a black vinyl top (R2), and it was refinished in red with a painted roof during the aforementioned refurbishment. Equipment includes faux hood vents, Super Sport and SS 396 badging, chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, electric windshield wipers, and bright trim.
Five-spoke American Racing 17″ wheels are mounted with Kumho Ecsta SPT tires measuring 225/55 front and 255/50 rear. The car is equipped with power steering as well as front and rear coil springs and rear air shocks. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with slotted and cross-drilled rotors.
The seating surfaces have been reupholstered in black vinyl. Interior appointments include front bucket seats, an aftermarket AM/FM/cassette radio, a heater, woodgrain dashboard trim, and a lighted glovebox. The clock does not work.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, a Sun Super Tach II tachometer, and a fuel gauge. Aftermarket gauges monitoring amperage, oil pressure, and water temperature are positioned beneath the heater controls. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles, approximately 1,600 of which were added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown.
The 396ci V8 was installed during the aforementioned refurbishment and has a Holley intake manifold and four-barrel carburetor, chrome valve covers, and tubular exhaust headers. The carburetor has a manual choke that can be operated from the cabin. The oil was changed in preparation for the sale. The car’s chassis number indicates that it was originally powered by a 283ci V8 or a 327ci V8.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Muncie four-speed manual transmission that was installed during the refurbishment as well as a 12-bolt Positraction rear end. The fuel tank and the dual exhaust system also were replaced.
