This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS was acquired by the seller as a partially-disassembled project approximately five years ago and has since been refurbished and modified. The car received a body-off repaint in red and was fitted with a 427ci V8 equipped with FiTech fuel injection. The interior was refreshed with black vinyl upholstery, and additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a 3.90 Detroit Truetrac rear end, four-wheel disc brakes, 18” Boyd wheels, Super Sport badging, a digital stereo, and air conditioning. This Chevelle is now offered with receipts from the refurbishment and an Alabama registration in the seller’s name.
The body was removed from the frame and repainted red during the refurbishment. Replacement side window glass and vent frames were installed, and exterior details include chrome bumpers, twin side mirrors, Super Sport badging, faux twin hood scoops, chrome rocker panel trim, and a powered antenna. Chrome-finished five-spoke Boyd wheels measure 18″ up front and 20″ out back and are mounted with Vercelli Strada II tires that are sized 225/45 and 275/35 respectively. Four-wheel disc brakes and stainless-steel lines have been installed, as have front and rear sway bars and adjustable rear control arms.
The interior houses front bucket seats and a rear bench that have been fitted with replacement foam padding and springs and re-upholstered in black vinyl. The seat frames are said to have been sand blasted and epoxy coated, and Dynamat sound deadening has been added to the floors, door panels, and roof. Additional appointments include lap belts, a vintage-look digital stereo linked with speakers in the kick panels, a Classic Auto Air Elite air conditioning system, and an analog clock mounted on the center console.
A three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a replacement gauge cluster that contains a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer mounted on the steering column, and gauges for fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 781 miles, all of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 427ci GM V8 was installed by the seller and is equipped with FiTech fuel injection, 10.1:1 compression pistons, MSD ignition, and a custom 3″ dual exhaust with an x-pipe and aftermarket mufflers. The firewall was smoothed during the refurbishment and a replacement fuel tank and pump were also installed.
The four-speed manual transmission has been fitted with replacement bearings and a Centerforce clutch, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a Detroit Truetrac rear differential with 3.90:1 gearing. The frame was powder coated black during the refurbishment, and additional photos of the underside are shown in the gallery.
