This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 was sold new at Burt Chevrolet of Englewood, Colorado and acquired around 22 years ago by the seller, who commissioned a body-off refurbishment that was completed in 2004. Work included repainting the car in metallic blue, reupholstering the interior, powder coating the frame, and replacing the trunk floor. A 468ci V8 was installed in 2017, along with a Muncie M-22 four-speed manual transmission and Positraction differential. Additional modifications include power-assisted front disc brakes, polished 17” Budnik wheels, Bilstein shocks, Hotchkis front and rear sway bars, and TMI front bucket seats. This Chevelle is being offered with the removed 396ci L35 V8 and other spare parts, as well as manufacturer’s literature and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in Marina Blue (F) and said to have been previously finished in white, the body was removed from the frame and repainted around 2003, and various trim pieces were reportedly replaced at that time. Exterior features include chrome side-view mirrors and bumpers along with SS and 396 badging. A fitted car cover is included in the sale.

Polished 17” Budnik wheels are mounted with Hankook Ventus HRII tires, and a full-size spare is found in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front discs with rear drums. The car rides on Bilstein shocks at all four corners, and the seller notes that the suspension components have been powder coated black. Additional modifications include Hotchkis front and rear sway bars and rear trailing arms. The removed factory wheel covers accompany the vehicle.

The cabin was trimmed in blue vinyl from the factory (731) and has been fitted with TMI front bucket seats with black fabric inserts. Features include lap belts for all occupants, a push-button Delco AM radio, aftermarket steering wheel, and a replacement center console with an analog clock that has been converted to quartz movement. The removed center console, steering wheel, and bucket seats will accompany the vehicle and can be seen in the gallery below.

Instrumentation includes a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 27k miles, around 5k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 468ci V8 was built in 2018 by JMS Racing Engines of El Monte, California and features a four-bolt main engine block along with Brodix cylinder heads, Keith Black pistons, a 527/544 lift hydraulic roller camshaft, a Scat crankshaft and connecting rods, polished valve covers, and an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold topped by a single carburetor.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement Muncie M-22 four-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter and 12-bolt Eaton Positraction differential with 3.18:1 gearing. The frame is said to have been powder coated during the refurbishment and the trunk floor was replaced. The removed Powerglide automatic transmission and shifter will accompany the vehicle. The removed V8 is said to have been rebuilt during the refurbishment between 2003 and 2004. A photo of the stamping pad provided in the gallery displays 6K114328, which matches the last six digits of the chassis number, along with the code EKH which denotes a 396ci, 325 horsepower L35 V8 for automatic transmission applications. The removed Holley carburetor pictured in the gallery is included in the sale and bears stamping number 3868864 ES.
