1984 Chevy Camaro Z28
1984 CHEVY CAMARO Z28
The 1984 Camaro was carried over largely unchanged from the 1983 model. Manual transmission Camaros got a hydraulically-actuated clutch, for the first time. The Berlinetta, which was supposed to be the high-tech, high-lux, “Euro”-version, got a new digital dash, one of the first in a production car. It had bar graph speedo and tach. It all sounds much better than it actually looked. And if it went out, there was not fixing it, you just had to replace the dash. I know, I had to do it once. The 1984 Chevy Camaro, and the Z28 in particular, had looked the same as when the 3rd-generation was introduced in 1982. That was about to change, with the 1985 model year. Regardless of all that, over a quarter-million 1984 Chevy Camaros were sold, and over 100,000 of those were Z28s. This was the best year for sales in the entire 3rd-generation, which spanned from 1982 through 1992.
