This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu coupe was acquired by the seller in the early 2000s and subsequently refurbished and modified. Work is said to have included repainting the body in black, reupholstering the interior, and installing power-assisted front disc brakes as well as a 6.0-liter Vortec V8 and a 12-bolt rear axle with a Positraction differential and 3.42:1 gears. The car is also equipped with 15″ steel wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, a G Force front crossmember, air conditioning, a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission, a Vibrant Performance cold-air intake, a Be Cool aluminum radiator, a KWiK Performance front drive accessory system, Hooker headers, and a 3″ Flowmaster dual exhaust system. This modified Chevelle is now offered in Canada with Ontario registration in the seller’s name.
The seller states that the body was removed from the frame and repainted black as part of the aforementioned refurbishment completed in 2010 and was subsequently refinished in 2022. Exterior features include a left-side mirror, quad headlights, Super Sport and 396 badging, and chrome bumpers with rear overriders.
Black-finished 15″ steel wheels wear polished bowtie center caps and are mounted with Firestone Super Sports redline tires. A matching spare is stored in the trunk. The car features a G-Force crossmember as well as a quick-ratio steering box and rides on replacement gas shocks. The braking system has been modified with power-assisted front discs.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are said to have been reupholstered in black vinyl under current ownership. Equipment includes air conditioning, a center console, and lap belts. A Delco push-button AM radio and MMATS speakers are installed, though the former is not connected. The air conditioning control lever is broken, the clock is inoperative, and the headliner is torn.
The two-spoke steering wheel wears a chrome horn ring and fronts an aftermarket tachometer, an inoperative 120-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles, approximately 8k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
According to the seller, the replacement 6.0-liter Vortec LQ9 V8 was sourced from a 2002 Cadillac Escalade and installed by the seller in 2016. The engine is said to be fitted with an ASA camshaft along with beehive valve springs, and further modifications include a Vibrant Performance cold-air intake, a Be Cool aluminum radiator, and a KWiK Performance front drive accessory system.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle with a Positraction differential and 3.42:1 gears. A McLeod Racing clutch and flywheel assembly with a hydraulic throw-out bearing is installed, per the seller. The car is also equipped with Hooker headers and a 3″ Flowmaster dual exhaust system
