This 1967 Chevrolet Camaro convertible was first sold by Commonwealth Chevrolet in Boston, Massachusetts, and spent time in New Jersey and Florida prior to the seller’s purchase in 2019. The car is said to be one of a limited number of Pace Car convertible replicas produced in commemoration of the Indianapolis 500, and was subsequently modified during prior ownership with exterior and interior color changes and the installation of a 350ci GM ZZ3 V8 crate engine that is paired with a Muncie four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes Rally Sport and Interior Decor packages, a replacement soft top, power steering, Rally wheels, bucket seats, and an aftermarket stereo. This Camaro RS convertible is now offered in Indiana with an NCRS shipping data report and an Indiana title in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in Ermine White with a white convertible top (C-1), the body was refinished in its current shade of red during previous ownership. The replacement black convertible top features a glass rear window, and the car is equipped with the Z22 Rally Sport package, which included concealed headlights with a specific grille, turn signals mounted in the front valance, and reverse lights positioned beneath the rear bumper. “RS” badging is shown fitted to the rear fuel filler, the front grille, and on the fenders. The seller states that the right-rear quarter has visible bubbling, pitting is noted on portions of the trim, and corrosion is visible at the bottom of the windshield, all of which are depicted in images included in the gallery below.
Rally wheels wear chrome trim rings and hub covers and are mounted with 15″ BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Per the seller, the car is equipped with replacement springs, power steering components, subframe body bushings, and rear axle bushings, and the power-assisted drum brakes were serviced with replacement shoes and parking brake components.
The cowl tag indicates that the cabin was originally upholstered in bright blue (732), and the interior is now trimmed in black with white seat inlays. Amenities include bucket seats up front, a bench in the rear, a center console, chrome trim, a black boot cover, and a Bluetooth-capable RetroSound stereo linked to an aftermarket amplifier and speakers. Further additions include replacement kick panels and carpeting fitted over sound insulation.
Instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges mounted at the base of the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 56k miles, approximately 6k of which were added during current ownership. True mileage is unknown. The seller notes the left-side cabin light is inoperative and a short is present on the right-side door light.
The seller states that the 350ci GM ZZ3 V8 crate engine was installed under prior ownership along with a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a Dana 60 rear axle w/ 3.51:1 gearing. Features include an Edelbrock 600cfm four-barrel carburetor and a set of Hedman headers linked to a dual exhaust system equipped with glasspack mufflers. Maintenance by the seller is said to have included replacement of the starter, alternator, battery, and valve cover gaskets, while servicing in March 2021 included replacement of the intake manifold gasket, fuel pump, and rear axle bearings. The seller notes an occasional drip of oil and rattling from the exhaust system.
Per the seller the underside was treated with an application of undercoating, and additional photos presented in the gallery depict the underside, mechanical components, and noted corrosion.
An NCRS Shipping Data report is included in the sale and shows the production date, dealer code, and receiving dealer information. The current Indiana title carries an Exceeds Mechanical Limits odometer brand.
