This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 convertible was acquired out of North Carolina approximately 17 years ago by the seller and was modified in 2012 with a 572ci V8 equipped with a ProCharger F1R supercharger, Brodix BB-3 Xtra CNC-ported 366 aluminum cylinder heads, 10.5:1 compression Ross Racing pistons, and a water-methanol injection system. A Tremec TKX five-speed manual transmission and 12-bolt Eaton Positraction differential have also been installed, along with an Accel DFI system, Lemons headers, a 3″ exhaust with electronic cutouts, power rack-and-pinion steering, QA1 coilovers, Wilwood disc brakes with Hydroboost, and staggered-diameter Forgeline wheels, The car was also repainted Madeira Maroon in 2012, and has been fitted with a modified replacement hood, a custom roll cage, Flaming River tilt steering column, bolstered aftermarket front bucket seats with harnesses, Dakota Digital gauges, and an aftermarket stereo system with Bluetooth. This Chevelle is being offered with the removed hood and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in Madeira Maroon with a white soft top (N1), the car was repainted in 2012 and has been fitted with a black soft top along with a reproduction hood with pins and custom vents. The removed hood is included in the sale and can be seen in the gallery below.

Forgeline SP3P wheels measure 19” up front and 20” out back and are mounted with Nitto NT555 and NT555R tires sized 245/35 and 305/35, respectively. Braking is through Wilwood four-wheel discs with Hydroboost, six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, and ventilated rotors. The car is equipped with power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering and rides on QA1 four-wheel adjustable coilovers, Hotchkis front and rear sway bars, TRZ steering arms, tubular upper and lower control arms, and boxed rear control arms with polyurethane bushings.

The interior houses aftermarket front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black upholstery with a matching dashboard and door panels. Additional modifications include a stainless-steel roll cage with door bars, RJS five-point harnesses, a GPS tracking system, and a center console. The stereo system consists of a Clarion CMS1 source controller unit with satellite radio and Bluetooth connectivity wired to 320W and 360W Alpine amplifiers, four 6” Polk Audio speakers, and two trunk-mounted 15” JBL subwoofers in a custom enclosure.

A three-spoke Grant GT steering wheel is mounted to a Flaming River tilt steering column and sits ahead of HDX-66C-CVL Dakota Digital instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 180 miles, though total chassis mileage is unknown. The dash features integrated shift lights as well as lights for methanol activation, low methanol warning, and PCV vacuum pump activation.

The 572ci V8 was reportedly built by Scott Shafiroff Racing Engines and Components of Bohemia, New York with a Gen-VI Bowtie engine block, CNC-ported Brodix Big Brodie aluminum cylinder heads, and a ProCharger F1R supercharger, intercooler, and dual blow-off valves. Additional equipment is said to include the following:

  • 2.25” Lemons custom headers
  • 3” exhaust with an X-pipe and remote-operated wireless electronic cutouts
  • Electric vacuum pump

The seller notes that an American Autowire 26-circuit wiring harness, fuse panel, and separate trunk-mounted eight-circuit fuse panel were installed in June 2022, and the fluids and spark plugs replaced in preparation for the sale. The removed airbox shown in the video is included in the sale.

The car was fitted with a Tremec TKX five-speed manual transmission in June 2022 that reportedly features a cryogenically-treated gearset, an STX shifter, RAM twin-disc clutch, and a scatter shield. The 12-bolt Eaton Positraction differential is also said to have been rebuilt at that time and is equipped with 3.73:1 gearing, a Moser aluminum differential cover, and replacement bearings, seals, and axles.
