This 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible is a refurbished example powered by a 396ci V8 backed by a 700R4 automatic transmission and Positraction rear end. The car is finished in silver over a black interior and features optional power brakes and steering. Modifications include performance intake and exhaust components as well as a custom stereo. The refurbishment work included new paint, a replacement fuel tank and lines, rebuilt suspension, and more. Originally Grecian Green, the body was repainted in silver metallic with black accent stripes under previous ownership. Detailed photos are provided in the gallery to show the finish, grille, lighting, and badging up close. The powered black folding roof is correct according to the build tag shown below, and a vinyl top boot is provide for use when stowed.

SS Rallye 14” wheels are fitted with polished trim rings and SS center caps, and wear 225/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Braking is from power-assisted discs up front with drums in the rear.

Optional bucket seats are equipped along with lap belts for all five passengers. A factory horseshoe gear selector remains in the center console, while a 3-spoke steering wheel replaces the original. A Kenwood CD player with auxiliary input has been installed. Instrumentation includes a vertical bar tachometer, an aftermarket auxiliary gauge pod, and a 5-place odometer reading 1,010 miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The trunk is finished in matte black and houses an aftermarket amplifier and subwoofers.

The 396ci big-block V8 is believed to be a replacement and sends power to the rear wheels via a 3-speed 700R4 automatic transmission and 12-bolt 3.75:1 Positraction differential. Additional components include an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and dual-plane hi-rise intake, Jet-Hot coated Hooker long-tube headers feeding 3″ pipes, and MSD electronic ignition. Chrome accent pieces and an auxiliary transmission oil cooler have been fitted. An oil change and safety inspection were reportedly performed in September 2018.

The chassis has been refinished and detailed, and the suspension was reportedly rebuilt with new front control arms, ball joints, bushings, coil and leaf springs, and shocks as well as a Hotchkis rear sway bar.
