This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu sport coupe was acquired by the seller on BaT in December 2022 and is powered by a replacement 454ci V8 mated with a replacement three-speed TH400 automatic transmission and a Truetrac differential. The engine was rebuilt under previous ownership with Flotek cylinder heads, a Holley 650 carburetor, and an Edelbrock intake manifold, and additional equipment includes power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, a coilover suspension, QA1 control arms, rear traction bars, 15″ Rally-style wheels, front bucket seats, and a Grant steering wheel. This Chevelle is now offered with a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The body was refinished in blue with white stripes under previous ownership, and the inner and outer front fenders, grille, bumper, and hood were replaced following a collision under previous ownership. Exterior details include a cowl induction-style hood, a driver-side mirror, and hood pins.
Silver 15″ Rally-style wheels wear chrome hub caps and are wrapped in 235/60 front and 275/50 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car is equipped with power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, coilovers, QA1 tubular control arms, and rear traction bars. The brake vacuum pump was replaced under previous ownership.
The front bucket and rear bench seats are upholstered in black vinyl and joined by matching door panels and carpets. Interior details include a center console, a horseshoe-style shifter, a heater, black dice door lock knobs, and three-point seatbelts. An RetroSound AM/FM radio was fitted under current ownership, but it is not connected. The driver seat outer bolster is torn, the passenger door trim is peeling, the rearview mirror is cracked, and the dash behind the steering wheel is cracked.
The Grant steering wheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel gauge. A trio of supplementary Equus gauges are mounted below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 82k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The rebuilt 454ci V8 was installed following the previous owner’s acquisition in 2018 and features an Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley Quick Fuel 650-cfm carburetor, Flotek cylinder heads, tubular headers, and polished valve covers. An aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, a replacement alternator, and a polished alternator, water pump, and brake booster are also fitted. The battery was replaced under current ownership.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle with a Truetrac differential.
