This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle sport coupe was originally equipped with an inline-six and a manual transmission, and modifications under previous ownership included the installation of a 350ci V8, a three-speed automatic transmission, and SS badging. Finished in blue with white stripes over a black vinyl interior, the car was acquired by the seller’s uncle in April 2019 It is equipped with chrome-finished 15″ Cragar wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, an Edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor, a polished air cleaner assembly and valve covers, Accel ignition cables, and a dual exhaust system in addition to AutoMeter and Summit gauges, a Kenwood CD stereo, and Pioneer speakers. This Chevelle coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of their late uncle’s estate with partial service records and a clean Texas title.
The car was originally finished in Mulsanne Blue, and seller states that the body was refinished in blue with white stripes under previous ownership. Exterior features include hood pins, SS badging, dual mirrors, and chrome bumpers. Noted flaws are shown in the gallery below and include paint chips, scratches, and dings.
Chrome-finished 15″ Cragar S/S wheels are mounted with 235/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and work performed in 2019 included replacing the control arm bushings and ball joints, changing the brake fluid, and installing an aftermarket front disc brake conversion kit with slotted and cross-drilled rotors.
The cabin features bench seating upholstered in black vinyl in addition to a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes crank windows, a Kenwood CD stereo, and Pioneer speakers. Vintage Air climate control was installed under previous ownership, though it does not blow cold air according to the seller.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer and a fuel level gauge, while AutoMeter gauges for water temperature and oil pressure are mounted beneath the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 51k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. The ignition switch, speedometer gear, and speedometer cable were replaced under current ownership, and total mileage is unknown.
The 350ci V8 was installed under previous ownership and is equipped with an Edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor in addition to a polished air cleaner assembly and valve covers, coated exhaust headers, Accel ignition cables, and a Summit fuel pressure gauge. Work performed in 2020 included replacing the spark plugs, ignition cables, fuel pump, and valve cover gasket.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and an Auburn Gear limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 gears, the latter of which were installed under current ownership. Additional work performed at that time included replacing the driveshaft, wheel bearings, transmission mount, output seal, and transmission fluid. An aftermarket dual exhaust system is installed, and corrosion is noted on the controls arms and brake booster.
