This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe was acquired by the current owner in 2018 and subsequently underwent a refurbishment that included a repaint in orange with black stripes as well as the installation of a 502ci V8 crate engine, a three-speed automatic transmission, a 12-bolt rear axle, Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection, and a Vintage Air climate control system. Additional equipment includes front disc brakes, 15” American Racing wheels, dual mirrors, tinted windows, black vinyl upholstery, Dakota Digital gauges, front and rear lap belts, and a RetroSound Bluetooth stereo. This Chevelle is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean Florida title.
The body is said to have been repainted in its current shade of orange along with black hood and decklid stripes under current ownership. Exterior details include a cowl hood, hood pins, chrome bumpers and trim, dual mirrors, tinted windows, “SS” and “454” badging, and polished dual exhaust outlets.
Chrome-finished 15” American Racing wheels are mounted with 225/70 front and 275/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Stopping power is provided by front discs and power-assisted rear drum brakes. The rear tires were replaced in June 2022.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black vinyl upholstery that extends to the door panels and upper dashboard. Additional features include a center console, a Holley Sniper EFI digital readout, a Vintage Air climate control system, front and rear lap belts, Chevrolet-embroidered floor mats, rear parcel shelf-mounted speakers, and a RetroSound Bluetooth stereo. The headliner and the driver’s seat frame show signs of wear.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames Dakota Digital gauges consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, inset digital readouts, and auxiliary gauges for battery charge, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer indicates approximately 850 miles, all of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 502ci V8 GM crate engine was installed during the refurbishment and has been fitted with a Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection system, an aluminum radiator, and a chrome-finished air cleaner.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt TH400 three-speed automatic transmission that was fitted under current ownership. The rebuilt 12-bolt rear axle is said to feature Truetrac 3.55 gearing. Additional photos of the underbody are shown in the gallery.
