This 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu sport coupe is said to have been purchased new from Campbell Chevrolet of San Diego, California, by a relative of the current owner. The car underwent a refurbishment and is powered by a 283ci V8 mated to a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. It was repainted in dark green, and the cabin was re-trimmed in beige upholstery and carpets. Equipment includes 14″ Torq Thrust D wheels, power-assisted drum brakes, chrome bumpers, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. This Chevelle Malibu coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner in New Mexico with the owner’s manuals, service manuals, records, and a New Mexico title.
The car left the factory finished in Artesian Turquoise and was repainted in dark green. Equipment includes quad headlights, chrome bumpers, bodyside moldings, quarter vent windows, and polished dual exhaust finishers. Incidents in the 1990s reportedly resulted in refinishing the right door and left quarter panel. The seller states the weather seals are aged and the chrome finish on the trim is worn.
American Racing 14″ Torq Thrust D wheels are mounted with 205/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires, and a full-size spare is stowed in the trunk. The rear coil springs were replaced in 2019. Stopping power is provided by a power-assisted drum setup that was installed in 2022, which included rebuilding the wheel cylinders.
The cabin was reupholstered in 2019, according to the seller, and the bench seats are trimmed in beige leather and joined by color-coordinated door panels and carpets.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, a fuel level gauge, and an array of warning lights. The five-digit odometer shows 36k miles and is said to have rolled over. Total mileage is unknown.
The 283ci Turbo-Fire V8 was painted orange in 2018, at which point the carburetor and radiator were overhauled, a double-roller timing set was installed, and the water pump, rear main seal, engine mounts, freeze plugs, distributor, and various gaskets and hoses were replaced. The most recent oil change was completed in June 2024, and a spin-on oil filter adapter is fitted.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. A dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers was installed in 2021.
