This 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle is a Malibu four-door sedan that was sold new at Capital Chevrolet of Salt Lake City, Utah, and it is said to have remained registered in the area until the seller’s acquisition in 2022 following two decades in storage. Subsequent work involved repainting the car in metallic beige, refinishing the trunk area, and servicing various fluids. Power comes from a 283ci V8 paired with a Powerglide automatic transmission, and additional equipment includes 14” Cragar S/S wheels, power steering, beige upholstery, lap belts, and an AM radio. This Malibu sedan is now offered at no reserve with a clean Utah title in the seller’s name.
Available in myriad configurations, the Chevelle was Chevrolet’s flagship model for more than a decade, and the Malibu represented the top trim level offered for this first-generation example. The car left the factory finished in Cameo Beige (V), and the seller states that dings were repaired before the car was repainted in its current shade of metallic beige. The seller notes a leak into the trunk area believed to be from the rear window seal, and flaws on the front bumper are shown up close in the image gallery below. Several of the photos in the gallery were taken in 2022.
Cragar S/S 14” wheels are mounted with 215/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car is equipped with power steering. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums, and the system fluid was flushed and replaced in July 2024.
The cabin features bench seating trimmed in beige upholstery along with coordinated lap belts and brown carpets. An AM radio remains in the factory location.
The two-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and frames a 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 46k miles, approximately 400 of which have been added under current ownership.
Corrosion on the trunk floor was repaired and the compartment was refinished under current ownership.
The 283ci Turbo-Fire V8 is topped with a two-barrel carburetor and a black air cleaner housing. The engine oil and coolant were serviced in July 2024. A leak is noted at the front of the oil pan.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission.
