This 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS two-door Sport Coupe was produced at GM’s Flint, Michigan, facility, and it was acquired by the current owner in 2016. The car was refurbished and modified by its previous owner in 2011-2012, with work said to have included a repaint, an interior color change, and an engine rebuild. Its 327ci V8 is paired with a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, and additional features include the Super Sport equipment group, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor, exhaust headers, Flowmaster mufflers, Cragar wheels, and an aftermarket stereo. This Impala SS is offered on behalf of the current owner with a clean Nebraska title.
The pillarless hardtop was originally finished in Roman Red (923), and was repainted during the refurbishment under previous ownership. Details include quad headlights, engine-turned aluminum side molding and rear trim inserts, SS badging, and polished exhaust finishers.
Cragar S/S chrome-finished wheels are fitted with 14″ Cooper Cobra white-letter tires. A covered full-size spare is stored in the trunk, and braking is handled by front and rear drum brakes.
Black vinyl upholstery and trim are fitted in place of the factory red trim (87), and further additions include a vintage-style radio, an under-dash air conditioning unit, and a tachometer and auxiliary gauge pod mounted below the instrument panel.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, an electric clock, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 39k miles, roughly 3k of which have been added by the current owner. Total mileage is unknown.
The 327ci V8 is said to have been rebuilt under prior ownership with an aftermarket camshaft, flat-top pistons, and “202” cylinder heads. A four-barrel carburetor is fitted atop an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, and further additions include Edelbrock valve covers, tubular exhaust headers, and Flowmaster mufflers. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, which is said to be equipped with a B&M torque convertor.
