This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS coupe was acquired by the seller in 2004 and was subsequently dismantled, after which a replacement frame and body panels were installed and the car was refurbished in yellow with black stripes over a black interior. Power comes from a replacement 454ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment consists of replacement digital instrumentation, aluminum 15″ Centerline wheels, a cowl-induction hood, electric windows, and polished dual exhaust outlets. This Chevelle is offered with a clean New Mexico title in the seller’s name.
The car was factory finished in Fathom Blue (28). Following the seller’s acquisition, the body was reportedly removed from the frame due to damage to the left front, and was reassembled on a replacement frame with replacement inner and outer front fenders along with a stock-configuration cowl-induction hood, after which it was refinished in yellow with black stripes. Additional features include quad headlights, chrome front and rear bumpers, and SS badging. More photos of the exterior and trim are provided in the gallery below.
Polished aluminum 15″ Centerline wheels wear 205/80 front 295/50 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes. The seller notes that a smaller vacuum booster has been installed and braking requires extra effort until vacuum has built up.
The interior features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black with yellow piping. Amenities include a black dash with matching door panels and carpets, black floor mats with red embroidery, power windows, and a Kenwood CD stereo.
An aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel fronts replacement digital instrumentation. The odometer shows 168 miles, and the total mileage is unknown. The seller notes that the car has been re-wired with a Painless wiring harness, and that the gauges need to be calibrated.
The factory engine was replaced with a 454ci V8 which is said to have been built with a roller camshaft. The engine block and heads were painted in yellow, and features include a polished Edelbrock air cleaner cover and valve covers along with a replacement radiator. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Turbo-Hydramatic 350 three-speed automatic transmission. Additional photos of the underside are viewable in the gallery.
