This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu sport coupe is powered by a 350ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in gray over black vinyl. Features include a Positraction limited-slip differential, American Racing 15″ wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, aftermarket front and rear control arms, and adjustable QA1 shocks as well as an AM/FM radio, an eight-track player, bench seating, a Hurst shifter, coated exhaust headers, and MSD ignition components. Work in 2023 included refreshes of the brakes and suspension as well as replacement of the alternator, battery, and fuel filter. This Chevelle Malibu sport coupe was purchased by the owner in 2011 and is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with two sets of keys and a clean California title in the owner’s name.
The car was finished from the factory in Shadow Gray (17) and was repainted under prior ownership. Details include dual side mirrors, chrome bumpers, and red pinstripes. Bubbles are visible on the lower corners of the doors and front fenders, pitting is noted on the chrome trim, and paint chips and other imperfections are pictured in the gallery below.
The 15″ American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are mounted with 235/60 front and 255/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Suspension modifications include Hotchkis front control arms, aftermarket rear control arms, and QA1 adjustable shocks. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front disc and rear drums. The steering box was replaced in 2015, and the rear wheel cylinders were replaced the following year. Work in the past two years has included repacking the front wheel bearings as well as replacement of the shocks, brake master cylinder and brake booster, steel brake lines, front sway bar and associated hardware, and upper and lower front control arms.
The front and rear bench seats are upholstered in black vinyl, and interior appointments include a Hurst floor shifter, an AM/FM/eight-track radio, aftermarket kick-panel speakers, and lap belts.
The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column and frames a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and an analog clock. An aftermarket tachometer is installed alongside the instrument cluster, and a trio of aftermarket gauges are mounted below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 76k miles, approximately 13k of which were added under current ownership.
The 350ci L48 V8 features a four-barrel carburetor with an electric choke as well as a chrome air cleaner lid and valve covers. An MSD ignition control module is installed along with coated exhaust headers. The radiator was refurbished in 2016, and a replacement starter was installed in 2020. Work in 2023 included replacing underhood fuel hoses as well as the alternator, battery, and fuel filter.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.31:1 Positraction limited-slip differential. The differential pinion seal was replaced in 2019, and it received a fluid change in 2022. The transmission fluid was changed in 2023.
