This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu coupe was overhauled cosmetically and mechanically in 2021, during which the body was removed from the frame and refinished in black with silver stripes. A 572ci V8 crate engine was installed along with a Richmond six-speed manual transmission and a 9″ rear axle, the suspension was modified with Hotchkis components, and Baer disc brakes were installed. The black interior was refreshed, and other features include power windows, a console, a cassette player, Billet Specialties 18″ and 20″ wheels, a Demon carburetor, an aluminum radiator, and a 3″ exhaust system. The current owner acquired the car after completion in 2021. This modified Chevelle is now offered by the seller on behalf of its owner with recent receipts, small parts, and a clean New Jersey title.
The body is said to have been removed from the frame before being refinished in black with silver stripes, and the frame was powdercoated. Features include a pinned cowl-induction hood, SS badging, chrome trim and bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets that terminate below the rear fascia.
Billet Specialties 18″ front and 20″ rear wheels are mounted with 245/40 and 275/35 BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires. The suspension has been modified with Hotchkis components front and rear, including front and rear sway bars. Power-assisted Baer disc brakes have been added at each corner.
The interior has been refreshed and features bolstered bucket seats and a rear bench in black vinyl upholstery. Features include power windows, a console, and a Chevy-branded digital cassette player. The seller notes that the car is set up for air conditioning but currently does not have that amenity.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 20 miles.
The 572ci V8 is said to have been ordered as a crate engine and is topped with a high-rise intake manifold with a Demon 750-cfm carburetor. Tubular headers feed a 3″ exhaust system with a crossover pipe, and other equipment includes a replacement fuel tank, an electric fuel pump, a serpentine-belt system, an aluminum radiator, and electric fans. The oil was changed in December 2021.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Richmond six-speed manual transmission and a 9″ rear end. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
