This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro was produced at GM’s Norwood, Ohio, facility and was acquired by the seller out of Michigan in 2010. The car is finished in Grotto Blue over black vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 396ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes SS trim, a 12-bolt limited-slip rear end, a fold-down rear seat, rear defrost, a full-length center console, and a Hurst shifter as well as a Demon carburetor, an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, aftermarket exhaust headers, and 15″ Rally-style wheels. A repaint and interior updates were completed during prior ownership, while work under current ownership has included an engine rebuild and servicing of the braking, suspension, and steering components. This Camaro is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, spare parts, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Grotto Blue (DD), the car was repainted during previous ownership according to the seller, who notes the left fender and quarter panel have been replaced. Features include white nose stripes, front and rear spoilers, dual exhaust outlets, and SS badging. A bend is noted in the rear bumper, and damage to the plastic front grille below the SS badge can be seen in the gallery below.
Rally-style 15″ wheels wear chrome trim rings along with staggered-width BFGoodrich redline tires, and a spare mounted with an older tire is stored in the trunk. Braking is provided by drums at all four corners, and the seller states that the brake master cylinder was replaced and the suspension and steering systems were serviced under current ownership.
The interior features front bucket seats that were reupholstered in black vinyl along with a matching replacement dash pad. Equipment includes a fold-down rear seat, rear defrost, a Pioneer cassette radio, and front and rear lap belts as well as a center console housing a Hurst shifter and a trio of AutoMeter supplementary gauges. Discoloration is noted on the steering wheel and the carpets. A stock AM radio is included in the sale.
Instrumentation framed by the three-spoke steering wheel includes a 120-mph speedometer and a column-mounted AutoMeter tachometer. The five-digit odometer indicates approximately 67k miles. The seller notes the fuel gauge works intermittently and the reverse lights are inoperative.
The 396ci V8 was reportedly rebuilt by USA Performance Engines of Denver, Colorado, and equipment includes an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold topped with a Demon four-barrel carburetor, MSD ignition components, and Hooker headers linked to a dual exhaust system equipped with Flowmaster mufflers. Per the seller, the engine has been driven approximately 4k miles since the rebuild, and an oil change was competed in March 2022. A dyno sheet in the gallery below shows peak output of 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque.
The engine stamping shown above includes the digits 8N324715, which match the last eight digits of the chassis identification plate. Additionally, the MW suffix corresponds with an L35 396ci V8 for manual-transmission applications. A photo of casting number 3916323 is included in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt Muncie four-speed manual transmission linked to a 12-bolt rear end housing a 3.73:1 limited-slip differential. Additional photos showing the suspension, chassis, and driveline, as well as corrosion on portions of the mechanicals are presented in the gallery below.
A collection of spare and removed parts and components including an intake manifold, carburetors, exhaust manifolds, seat upholstery, and more are included in the sale.
