This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible was ordered new by O’Rielly Chevrolet in Tucson, Arizona, and was acquired by the seller in 2011. The car is finished in Fathom Blue over white vinyl and is powered by a 402ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a white convertible top, 14″ SS-style wheels, power brakes, power steering, air conditioning, an AM/FM radio, and a Positraction rear differential. This Chevelle is now offered by the seller on behalf of his spouse with a copy of the build sheet and a clean Texas title.
The body is finished in Fathom Blue (28) and features white racing stripes, a white convertible top, hood pins, “SS” badging, and chrome bumpers.
14″ SS-style wheels wear polished trim rings and Goodyear Polyglas tires. This car was factory-equipped with power steering and optional F41 performance suspension. Braking is from power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features white vinyl seats along with matching door panels and a contrasting black dashboard and carpets. Equipment includes air conditioning and an AM/FM radio.
The two-spoke steering wheel features an SS horn pad and frames a 7k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 1,700 miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 402ci V8 was factory rated at 350 horsepower and is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor. An oil change was recently performed.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed TH-400 automatic transmission and a Positraction rear end with 3.31:1 gearing. Additional images of the underside can be viewed in the gallery.
A copy of the build sheet lists factory colors, options, and the ordering dealer.
