This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 sport coupe was acquired by the seller in January 2009 and subsequently underwent refurbishment work that included removing the body from the frame and refinishing in metallic blue over blue upholstery. Power comes from a replacement 396ci V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes chrome 17″ Foose alloy wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, a four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, coated exhaust headers, an HEI distributor, and power steering as well as chrome bumpers with overriders, a Hurst shifter, aftermarket auxiliary gauges, and a push-button AM/FM radio. This Chevelle is now offered with spare trim rings and center caps, refurbishment photos, and a Georgia registration document in the seller’s name.
The car was finished from the factory in two-tone Nantucket Blue and Ermine White (D-C), and the body was removed from the frame and repainted during the 2008 refurbishment work. Exterior details include chrome bumpers with overriders, simulated hood vents, dual side mirrors, front vent windows, bright trim, and “396 Turbo-Jet” and “Super Sport” badging. Scratches in the glass are depicted in the photo gallery below along with close-up images detailing lighting, badging, and trim.
Chrome-finished 17″ Foose alloy wheels are mounted with 245/45 BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S tires showing 2007 and 2011 date codes. The car is equipped with power steering and power-assisted brakes with an SSBC front disc brake kit with slotted and crossed-drilled rotors as well as rear drums.
The cabin features front and rear bench seating trimmed in blue upholstery, along with a color-coordinated dash pad, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include hand-crank side windows, a Hurst shifter, lap belts, and blue Chevrolet-branded rubber floor mats.
A woodgrain-rimmed steering wheel fronts instrumentation that includes a side-sweep 120-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and an analog clock. A tachometer is mounted to the body-color dashboard, and Equus auxiliary gauges are mounted centrally to the lower dash. The five-digit odometer shows 3k miles, which is said to indicate the distance traveled since the completion of refurbishment work. True mileage is unknown.
A later-model 396ci V8 has been installed and features a four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, an HEI distributor, coated exhaust headers, braided coolant hoses, and finned aluminum valve covers. An oil change was carried out in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
