This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu sport coupe was acquired by the seller in August 2021 and modified with Hotchkis suspension components and a 502ci crate V8 mated to a replacement three-speed TH400 automatic transmission. The car was refinished in black with white stripes over black upholstery as part of a refurbishment completed under prior ownership. Additional equipment includes a Holley carburetor, tubular headers, and a Currie 9″ rear axle with a 3.73:1 limited-slip differential as well as 15″ Rally II-style wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, power steering, adjustable coilovers, a cowl-induction hood, Dakota Digital gauges, Vintage Air climate control, and a retro-look Bluetooth stereo. This Chevelle Malibu is now offered with records from current ownership and a clean Virginia title in the name of the seller’s company.
The body was refinished in black with white stripes under prior ownership, and the windows, bright wheel arch trim, door handles, bumpers, and weather seals were reportedly replaced at that time. Exterior details include a cowl-induction hood, hood pins, dual side mirrors, LED taillights, SS badging, and a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers and oblong finishers. Replacement 502 badges were installed in February 2022.
The 15″ Rally II-style wheels wear SS454 center emblems and are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires measuring 225/70 up front and 275/70 out back. Hotchkis suspension components installed under current ownership include tubular upper control arms, rear trailing arms, front and rear sway bars, and adjustable coilover shocks. Work completed under prior ownership included installing four-wheel disc brakes and replacing the brake master cylinder, booster, lines, and the power steering box.
The front bucket seats and rear bench were re-trimmed in black vinyl under prior ownership and are complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, carpet, and door panels. Additional refurbishment work reportedly included replacing the carpet, headliner, dome light, sun visors, package tray, dash pad, and door sill protectors. The Vintage Air climate control system and retro-look Bluetooth stereo were installed in February 2022.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel features an SS center logo and fronts Dakota Digital instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a fuel level gauge. The digital odometer shows 500 miles, all of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The hood opens on billet aluminum hinges to reveal a replacement ZZ502ci V8 crate engine that was installed in 2022 and is equipped with a Holley carburetor in addition to tubular headers and an aluminum radiator assisted by electric fans. The fuel tank was replaced under prior ownership, the engine bay paint was touched up in 2022, and the oil was changed in August 2023. Service in August 2023 included replacing the oil pump pickup, water pump, starter, spark plugs, and alternator.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed TH400 automatic transmission that was installed in 2023 along with a Currie 9″ rear axle housing a 3.73:1 limited-slip differential.
