This 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 is finished in gold over a matching interior and is powered by a 396ci V8 paired with a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt Positraction rear axle. Features include steel wheels with SS-branded wheel covers, front disc brakes, front bucket seats, an electric clock, chrome bumpers, a black tail panel and grille, and a dual exhaust system. The car was acquired by the seller in 1990 and was rotisserie refurbished with work consisting of repainting the body, rebuilding the engine and rear axle, and resealing the transmission. This Chevelle SS is offered with refurbishment photos, Protect-O-Plate, manufacturer’s literature, spare parts, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Granada Gold and the body was stripped to bare metal and repainted during current ownership. Features include a blacked-out grille, a hood with faux twin scoops, 396 badging on the front fenders, SS396 emblems on the grille and rear cove, Super Sport script on the rear quarter panels, quad headlamps, reverse lamps, and a dual-outlet exhaust that exits behind the rear wheels.
The 14″ steel wheels wear SS-branded wheel covers and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown redline tires. Stopping power is provided by unassisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered gold vinyl joined by a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Features include a center console with a front-mounted electric clock, heater and defroster, polished door sills, retractable lap belts, floor vents, and an AM radio. The seller notes the radio works intermittently.
The three-spoke SS steering wheel frames a sweeping 120-mph speedometer and a fuel level gauge. A tachometer with a left turn signal indicator is mounted to the instrument panel. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 89k miles, approximately 5k of which have been added by the seller.
The 396ci V8 breathes through a four-barrel carburetor and features an orange engine block and intake manifold and a chrome air intake lid and valve covers. The engine is said to have been rebuilt under current ownership. The engine must warm up before idling on its own. A document detailing the engine machine work is provided in the gallery.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt Positraction rear axle with 4.10:1 gears. The transmission was resealed and rear axle is said to have been rebuilt under current ownership.
