This 1970 Chevrolet Camaro was purchased new by the seller on June 30, 1970 after he graduated from high school. The car started out as a basic Sport Coupe with a 350ci/250 horsepower V8, 4-speed transmission, no A/C, manual windows, an AM radio, and factory Positraction. A refurbishment carried out from 1998 to 2000 by Corvette Corrections in Anaheim, California reportedly included stripping and powder coating the frame, installation of a 350ci small-block V8 crate engine and Muncie 4-speed transmission, new paint, interior refreshment, 15″ Z/28 wheels, and more. Just 4k miles have been added since completion of the work. This one-owner Camaro is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The seller added hood and deck lid stripes in 1972, and had them re-applied during the late 1990s repaint. The finish shows a few paint chips and other cosmetic imperfections today along with a crack at the front of the hood as shown in the gallery. The bumpers, headlamps, and exterior trim are said to be original.
The car was equipped with 14″ wheels when new, and the current 15″ Z/28 wheels were added during the refreshment. New Goodyear Polyglas tires were mounted in 2017, and the seller notes that the speedometer is inaccurate as a result of the larger wheel/tire package.
The seller had ASC install an electric sliding sunroof in 1972, and its mechanism was rebuilt with new components and seals by AAA Convertible and Sunroof in Costa Mesa, California during the refurbishment.
A new dashboard pad, seat covers, and carpeting were fitted by Corvette Corrections. Interior flaws picked up since reportedly consist of a missing driver’s door opener trim piece and sun visor clips, though the original sun visors are included in the sale.
A Nardi 3-spoke steering wheel was added by the seller in the early 1970s, and an 8,000 rpm tachometer was installed in 1980. A Sony CD player is equipped along with a Hurst shifter. The odometer shows 91k miles and has rolled over once according to the seller.
A new 350ci V8 crate engine and Muncie 4-speed transmission were installed by Corvette Corrections during the work 18 years ago, and the car has been driven approximately 4k miles since. The motor reportedly uses a 327 camshaft and is capped with finned rocker covers. The brakes and transmission were serviced and a general tune-up was completed approximately a year ago.
