This 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle coupe is reported to have been parked outside for nearly 30 years under previous ownership before being purchased by the selling dealer in 2015. A subsequent refurbishment by the seller is said to have included rust repair, a repaint, a refreshed interior, brake and suspension updates, and more as described below. Power comes from a replacement 454ci V8 engine backed by a rebuilt three-speed Turbo 400 automatic transmission. This Chevelle is now offered with photos of the refurbishment and a clean New Jersey title.
Finished from the factory in Antique White (11), the body was repainted in its current Arctic Pearl White with accent stripes and a black vinyl roof by the selling dealer, who notes that the frame was refinished separately. Additional work performed at the time is said to have included new sheet metal for the quarter panels, inner wheel wells, rear passenger floor, and trunk floor.
Black-painted 15″ steel wheels feature polished trim rings and hubcaps and are mounted with Cooper Cobra radial tires. According to the seller, the front brakes have been updated with power assist, and new front and rear suspension components have been installed.
The interior was redone with black vinyl upholstery and a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Features include shoulder belts, air conditioning, embroidered floor mats, and a retro-look radio with an auxiliary input.
The rectangular speedometer includes a five-digit odometer showing just over 76k miles, although true mileage is unknown. Approximately 500 miles have been added since completion of the build.
Power is supplied by a rebuilt 454ci V8 engine, which is paired with a three-speed Turbo 400 automatic transmission that was reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment. Additional work is said to have included the installation of a new gas tank. According to the car’s serial number, it came from the factory equipped with an H-code 350ci V8.
