This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu sport coupe was refurbished and modified in 2012 under prior ownership with work that included a repaint in blue with white stripes, a custom interior re-trim in white and blue, and the installation of a big-block V8 and a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. The owner purchased the car in 2021, and a 496ci stroker V8 was installed in 2022 along with a Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection system. Additional equipment includes four bucket seats, a full-length center console, a Kenwood stereo, an aluminum intake manifold and cylinder heads, Hotchkis suspension components, and Baer brakes. This modified Malibu sport coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a clean Wisconsin title in the owner’s name.
The car was refinished in blue with white stripes during the 2012 refurbishment and has SS396 badges as well as wheel-arch moldings and chrome bumpers.
Budnik 18″ alloy wheels are mounted with 225/40 front and 295/35 rear Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval tires. Hotchkis front and rear suspension components include front and rear sway bars, front and rear control arms, and lowering springs. Stopping power is handled by Baer four-wheel drilled and slotted discs with front calipers.
The custom interior was completed by Steve Holcomb’s Pro Auto Custom Interiors of Knoxville, Tennessee, and features four bucket seats trimmed in white and blue with SS badges on the seatbacks. The custom design and color scheme extend from the center console, door panels, and fabricated headliner into the trunk area, and appointments include a Kenwood stereo unit, Hurst shifter, and billet door handles.
The Flaming River steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column ahead of AutoMeter gauges consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and readouts for water temperature, voltage, oil pressure, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 9k miles, which is said to be the distance driven since the 2012 build. The seller states that approximately 350 miles have been added since the installation of the 496ci V8.
The 496ci stroker V8 was installed in 2022 and features a double-roller timing set, a forged Eagle crankshaft, an aluminum high-rise intake manifold, an aluminum intake manifold, and a Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection system. Additional equipment includes a Be Cool aluminum radiator, dual electric cooling fans, braided lines and hoses, a March billet accessory drive kit, and billet hood hinges. The right-side valve cover gasket was replaced and an Edelbrock water pump was installed in September 2024.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO five-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle with a limited-slip differential and a Trick Flow aluminum rear cover. Full-length Hooker exhaust headers feed into a stainless exhaust system with an X-pipe and MagnaFlow mufflers.
