This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS was originally delivered to Frame Chevrolet in Mineola, New York, and came finished in LeMans Blue over Parchment vinyl upholstery. Power is from a 375 horsepower 396ci L78 V8, and shifting is handled by a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a 4.10:1 Positraction rear end, power-assisted front disc brakes, a full-length center console, an AM/FM radio, and an eight-track player. This Chevelle SS was acquired by the selling dealer in August 2018 and is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, build sheets, a Protect-O-Plate, and a clean New Jersey title.
Styling details include twin hood bulges, white accent stripes, black grille and trunk garnish insets, bright wheel arch moldings, and SS 396 badging. The selling dealer notes that paint touch-ups have been performed on the hood.
Super Sport wheels with black recesses and chrome trim rings wear 14″ Firestone Wide Oval tires. The car was optioned with power-assisted front disc brakes. A narrated video is provided by the selling dealer.
The cabin is equipped with twin bucket seats upholstered in Parchment vinyl and separated by a full-length cener console with a Hurst floor shifter. Amenities include a heater/defroster and a push-button AM/FM radio as well as an eight-track player mounted under the dashboard.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge with warning lights, and a five-digit odometer showing 5k miles.
The 396ci L78 V8 was rebuilt in 2019 following a long period of inactivity with forged pistons and a solid-lifter Comp camshaft as well as new rod and cam bearings. Replacement gaskets, valve springs, and timing components were also fitted.
The engine block indicates a 375-horsepower version built on May 6 as well as a serial number matching that listed on the Protect-O-Plate and build sheet, which are shown in the gallery.
Power is routed through a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission and a 4.10:1 Positraction rear end. Additional underside photos are provided below.
