This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible was modified under previous ownership with custom bodywork finished in orange over white, and its supercharged Chevrolet V8 is paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Features include a nosed, decked, and shaved body along with Chrysler-style lighting, custom front and rear fascias, smoothed bumpers, chrome-finished 15″ wheels, front bucket seats, a push-button radio, and extra cushions above the rear bench seat. The selling dealer acquired the car a decade ago. This custom Bel Air is now offered with a 1966 issue of Popular Customs magazine and a clean Oregon title.
Refinished in orange, the body has been modified with a 1962 Chrysler–style four-headlight front fascia and custom grille, reworked side trim, smoothed bumpers, dual exhaust outlets, a recessed antenna, and 1960 Chrysler–style taillights. The car has also been nosed, decked, and shaved.
Chrome-finished 15″ wheels wear spinner hubcaps and are mounted with 6.70-15 General Dual 90 Nygen whitewall tires.
The interior features white upholstery on the front and rear seats, which extends to the door panels and also covers the top of the dashboard. Tan carpeting has been installed, and a push-button AM radio is located in the center of the dash. The selling dealer notes that some of the switches are inoperable.
A two-spoke white steering wheel sits ahead of instrumentation that includes a Stewart-Warner 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and four auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 1k miles. Just five miles have been added over the past decade, and true mileage is unknown.
Additional cushions have been fitted atop the rear bench.
The trunk compartment is trimmed to match the interior.
The Chevrolet V8 is topped with a carburetor fed by a McCulloch supercharger. Finned Corvette valve covers, a chrome-finished generator, and a gold-colored radiator top are also featured in the engine bay.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
