This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car is finished in Dover White with Hugger Orange stripes and replica Indianapolis 500 pace car decals over an orange vinyl interior and is powered by a replacement 454ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The Z11 option added the RS and SS packages, a custom interior with orange houndstooth upholstery, and a cowl-induction hood as well as front and rear spoilers. Features include a power-operated white soft top, full instrumentation package, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, Classic Auto Air climate control, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. The car was refurbished under previous ownership and was acquired by the selling dealer in 2021. This Camaro is offered in Texas with a refurbishment photo book and a clean Louisiana title.
The Z11 package was introduced in early 1969 to outfit a limited run of production convertibles with trim replicating that of the official pace cars built for the 53rd Indianapolis 500. Fewer than 3,700 cars were sold with the option, all finished in Dover White (50) with Z28-style hood and trunk stripes in Hugger Orange. Equipment includes front and rear spoilers, a cowl-induction hood, hide-away headlights, chrome bumpers, a power-operated white soft top, bright louver trim, and SS badging.
The 15″ Rally wheels wear chrome center caps and trim rings, and are wrapped in 235/60 Radial G/T HP 4000 white-letter tires. The car is equipped with power steering as well as heavy-duty springs, and braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The interior features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in orange vinyl upholstery with houndstooth cloth inserts as well as matching molded door and side panels. Black carpeting and mats line the floors. Equipment includes retractable lap belts, aftermarket air conditioning, crank windows, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. The Z11 RPO required the Custom Interior package, which also added woodgrain accents, a glovebox light, a dash grab handle, bright pedal trim, and extra body insulation.
The two-spoke SS steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a center-mounted clock. Additional gauges monitoring amperage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are housed in the center console. The five-digit odometer displays 3k miles, less than 50 of which were added by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 454ci V8 is equipped with chrome valve covers, an orange engine block, and a satin black Turbo-Jet air cleaner. A fluid service is said to have been completed in April 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.
