This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS coupe is powered by a replacement 396ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is said to have been acquired by the current owner’s late father in the late 1990s. It is finished in green over black vinyl upholstery and equipped with a Positraction differential, an aluminum intake manifold and cylinder heads, a Holley carburetor, a dual exhaust system, 15″ Rally wheels, a black vinyl roof, black stripes, chrome bumpers, front and rear spoilers, an Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo, and a Hurst shifter. This Camaro SS is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner at no reserve with spare parts and a clean Michigan title.
The body is finished in green, and features include a black vinyl roof, black stripes, front and rear spoilers, Camaro SS and 427 badging, and chrome bumpers. The seller notes a bubble under the vinyl top, and paint blemishes around the car are shown in the gallery below.
The 15″ Rally wheels are mounted with 235/60 front and 255/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Braking is handled by front and rear drums.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl. An Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo is housed in the glove box, and additional equipment includes a Hurst shifter, a heater, and woodgrain dashboard and center console trim.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and an ammeter and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure are housed in the center console. The five-digit odometer shows 40k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 396ci V8 is said to have been sourced from a 1969 Chevelle, and it is equipped with an aluminum intake manifold and GM “Snowflake” aluminum cylinder heads as well as a Holley four-barrel carburetor and polished valve covers. The seller notes a crack in the cylinder #5 pipe on the right exhaust header.
The engine stamp shown above includes the suffix ‘JD,’ which is consistent with a 1969 Chevelle or El Camino 396ci V8 rated at 375 horsepower.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and an optional Positraction differential. A dual exhaust system is fitted.
