This 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 was acquired by the selling dealer in August 2021, reportedly from the family of its original owner. The car is finished in Maroon over a black interior and received a cosmetic refurbishment around two decades ago. Power is supplied by a numbers-matching 396ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and equipment includes a black vinyl roof, an AM Delco radio, a center console, black nose and side stripes, bucket seats, and a dual exhaust system. This Chevelle is now offered by the selling dealer with a spare steering wheel, manufacturer’s literature, photos from the refresh, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
Finished from the factory in Maroon (N2), the car was repainted approximately two decades ago following rust repair and bodywork. Black stripes were added to the lower body panels and nose, and additional details include a black vinyl roof, a driver’s side mirror, SS396 badging, and front and rear chrome bumper guards. Close-up photos of the body and trim are provided in the gallery.
Steel 14″ wheels wearing SS396-branded polished hubcaps are mounted with 215/75 Hankook Optimo H724 tires showing 2013 and 2014 date codes. A spare tire mounted on a 14″ Magnum wheel is found in the trunk.
The car is equipped with bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl (766) along with a center console, a heater, a locking glovebox, an AM Delco radio, crank windows, and black floor mats.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock surrounded by auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 30k miles, though true mileage is unknown.
The 396ci V8 features a four barrel carburetor, chrome rocker covers and open-element air filter, and a dual exhaust.
Engine pad stamping 157886 matches the final six characters of the chassis plate as shown in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside photos can be seen in the gallery.
