This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible underwent a refurbishment reportedly completed in 2002 and spent time in Kentucky before being acquired by the seller in August 2016 and relocated to Tennessee. The car was refinished in coral and ivory over coral and gray upholstery, and it is powered by a 265ci V8 mated to a two-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes a four-barrel carburetor, a power-operated white soft top, 15″ body-color steel wheels, whitewall tires, a continental kit, chrome trim, a “hood bird” ornament, an analog clock, and an AM stereo. This Bel Air convertible is now offered with an owner’s guide, convertible top operation manual, various awards, a car cover, and a clean Tennessee title in the seller’s name.
The body was removed from its frame and repainted in coral and ivory using lacquer paint as part of the 2002 refurbishment according to the seller. Features include a bright grille, moldings, and bumpers. Additional exterior details include a power-operated white soft top, a gray top boot, a “hood bird” ornament, rear fender skirts, electric windshield wipers, and a continental tire kit. A replacement dual exhaust system with oblong outlets was installed in September 2023. The seller notes there are cracks in the paint, and the passenger-side door window is cracked.
Coral-painted 15″ steel wheels wear Chevrolet-logo hubcaps and are wrapped in Goodyear radial whitewall tires. Braking is handled by unassisted four-wheel drums. A bumper jack is mounted in the trunk.
The front and rear bench seats were reupholstered in coral and gray vinyl that extends to the door panels. Interior features include a heater, a fire extinguisher, an AM stereo, an analog clock, a tissue holder, Bel Air-branded rubber floor mats, vent windows, and bright Chevrolet-logo dash trim.
The three-spoke steering wheel features a full horn ring and fronts a 110-mph speedometer with inset readings for fuel level and coolant temperature in addition to warning indicator lights. The horn does not function. The five-digit odometer shows under 6k miles, which is said to have been the distance added since the 2002 refurbishment. Approximately 2,600 miles have been added under current ownership, and total mileage is unknown.
The 265ci V8 features a four-barrel carburetor in addition to an orange-painted block, intake manifold, cylinder heads, and Chevrolet-script valve covers. The seller notes the car leaks fluid after being parked. The oil was changed in September 2023.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a two-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside images are provided in the gallery.
Two VIN tags are attached to the vehicle and shown in the gallery below. Both are stamped with the sequence VC55K016907 listed as the VIN on the Tennessee title.
