This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air is a two-door sedan example that spent time in storage on a farm in Texas where it was acquired by the seller’s father in 1995. A refurbishment completed in 2000 included refinishing the car in two-tone green over green vinyl and cloth upholstery, replacing the bumpers, and rebuilding the 235ci inline-six. The car is equipped with a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission, 15″ steel wheels, a “hood bird” ornament, aftermarket auxiliary gauges, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. The car was acquired by the seller from their father in March 2022, and subsequent work is said to have included servicing the brakes and replacing the tires, radiator, spark plugs, and ignition wires. This Bel Air is now offered with refurbishment records and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.
The body was repaired, the bumpers were replaced, and the car was refinished in two-tone green as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior details include hooded headlights, chrome side moldings, a hood ornament, and a wraparound windshield and back window. Close-up photos presented in the gallery show dings and blemishes in the paint.
Green-painted 15″ steel wheels wear full covers and are mounted with wide-whitewall radial tires that were installed in 2023, according to the seller. Front and rear sway bars are fitted, and the four-wheel drum brakes were reportedly serviced in preparation for the sale.
The front and rear bench seats were reupholstered in green vinyl and patterned cloth circa 2000, and the dashboard was repainted at that time. Interior features include a heater, rubber floor mats, vent windows, front lap belts, sun visors, an analog clock, a glovebox, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. Corrosion in the trunk was repaired as part of the refurbishment, and images showing the trunk floor are provided in the gallery.
The three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a 110-mph speedometer with gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Two additional aftermarket gauges mounted beneath the dashboard display oil pressure and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 70k miles, approximately 3k of which have been added under family ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 235ci inline-six was rebuilt during the refurbishment and features a blue valve cover along with a single downdraft carburetor. Work completed in 2023 is said to have included cleaning the radiator and replacing the spark plugs, and ignition wires, installing a vacuum-advance distributor, and changing the oil.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission.
