This 1968 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova is a two-door coupe that was acquired by the seller in 2016 and underwent a mechanical refurbishment in 2017. An overbored 396ci V8, an Auto Gear four-speed manual gearbox, and a Moser Engineering Muscle Pak 12-bolt rear differential were installed, the floor pans were replaced, and Fat Mat sound deadening was added. The car is finished in green over black vinyl upholstery, and additional equipment includes an Erson camshaft, 15″ steel wheels, Wheel Vintiques chrome center caps, Right Stuff front disc brakes, chrome front and rear bumpers, a stainless steel exhaust system, front lap belts, an AM radio, a Hurst Competition shifter, and a heater. This Nova is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, refurbishment photos, service records, and New York registration in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in green and exterior equipment includes chrome front and rear bumpers, quarter vent windows, and Nova badging. The floor sections were replaced, welded, and painted in 2017. Rust is evident on the bottom of the front fenders and at the left-rear wheel well. Scratches and paint damage are detailed in the photo gallery below.
Steel 15″ wheels wear Wheel Vintiques chrome center caps and are mounted with BFGoodrich tires measuring 215/70 up front and 255/60 out back. Power steering and a Right Stuff front disc brake conversion were installed in 2017 in addition to big block front-end leaf springs, rear multi-leaf springs, urethane bushings, a front sway bar, and replacement shocks, ball joints, and tie rod ends.
The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in black vinyl with textured inserts along with a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Equipment includes front lap belts, a heater, a Delco AM push-button radio, Fisher-branded door sill plates, and a Hurst Competition shifter. Fat Mat sound deadening was installed in 2017.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, a column-mounted AutoMeter 8k-rpm tachometer, and a fuel level gauge. Supplementary gauges for oil pressure and coolant level are mounted under the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 10k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The overbored 396ci V8 was installed in June 2017 and is fitted with a Holley carburetor, ICON forged pistons, Eagle connecting rods, an Erson camshaft, hydraulic roller lifters, Crane Energizer rocker arms, Patriot ceramic-coated headers, ARP head bolts, Comp Cams valve springs, Hastings piston rings, a Melling oil pump, a D.U.I. electronic ignition distributor, an S.A. Gear timing set, an aftermarket water pump, and a three-row radiator. An oil change was performed in May 2023.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an Auto Gear M23 four-speed manual gearbox and a Moser Engineering Muscle Pak 12-bolt differential with a 3.55:1 gearing ratio. The car is equipped with a McLeod Racing Street Pro clutch and a PYPES stainless steel exhaust system.
