This 1966 Chevrolet Impala station wagon was initially delivered to Ralph Abernethy Chevrolet of Lincolnton, North Carolina, and is powered by a 396ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car is finished in white over a green vinyl interior, and equipment includes a 12-bolt rear axle, power-assisted brakes and steering, a Delco AM radio, and a power-operated tailgate window. The car was purchased by the seller out of Pennsylvania in 2020, and subsequent work is said to have included an oil change, an interior refresh, rebuilds of the starter and carburetor, and replacement of the brake master cylinder and wheel cylinders. This Impala wagon is now offered in Texas with a build sheet, manufacturer’s literature, assorted spare parts, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The car was delivered new in Ermine White, and was repainted under prior ownership. Features include quad headlights, side mirrors, and a flip-down tailgate. Evidence of body repair is noted on the tailgate, and wear is present on portions of the rubber trim according to the seller, who also notes that the finish exhibits peeling clearcoat, paint chips, wear, and scratches. Corrosion is visible on the tailgate, the lower doors, and the lower edges of the rear quarter windows.
The car rides on white-finished 15″ Rally wheels fitted with polished trim rings and staggered-width Cooper tires. A 14″ spare mounted with a Firestone tire is stored within the rear compartment. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering and brakes, and the seller notes that service under current ownership has included replacement of the brake master cylinder, shoes, and wheel cylinders.
A green interior treatment includes the dashboard, door panels, carpeting, and seat upholstery. The seller notes that the carpeting and front seat upholstery were replaced under current ownership, and equipment includes a power-operated tailgate window, a tilting and telescoping steering column, manually-operated windows, and lap belts. The air conditioning does not blow cold air according to the seller.
The 396ci Turbo-Jet V8 is topped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor. The engine suffix code “IV” is pictured in the gallery and corresponds with a 1966 model-year 396ci V8 rated at 325 horsepower. Work completed by the seller included an oil change, rebuilds of the starter and carburetor, and replacement of the following components:
- Fuel lines
- Valve cover gaskets
- Vacuum canister
- Battery and cables
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear end equipped with 2.73:1 gearing. Seepage is noted from the oil pan. Additional photos showing underbody corrosion and displaying the condition of the suspension, chassis, and driveline are presented in the gallery.
