This 1965 Chevrolet Impala two door hardtop is a well-optioned and largely original example featuring a Turbo-Fire 327 V8 and factory air conditioning. It has had one respray in original Mist Blue, and both engine and Powerglide automatic transmission are strong running and believed to be matching numbers. This is a nicely specced car with upgraded engine (many came with 6-cylinders and 283’s), factory A/C, and power steering, and it’s described as fully functional and ready to drive.
Helpful lift photos show good rockers and sills as well as straight lower body panels including quarter panels. The rest of the car looks equally straight with, trim is complete and shiny, and contrasting white top is correct to the original spec. We like the old-school hubcaps with thin white walls and stock badging. The car was purchased out of California and blue plates are evidence of long-time California registration.
The interior is said to be all original and looks honest for a 50-year-old car. We love that the original dealer-installed clear rear seat covers remain, and comfy vinyl and velour two-tone upholstery match the stock dash well. Carpets, door panels, and headliner are all in good condition. Lights, gauges, and switchgear are functional, and the A/C works. The radio was already removed when purchased but thankfully the dash was not cut. Though peppered with surface rust, the trunk is solid with no rot according to the seller.
Underhood, the engine is dusty but complete and all stock right down to the glass windshield washer fluid bottle. Said to fire up quickly and have a quiet idle, the small block moves off the line with good torque and no hesitation. The Impala received a significant redesign for 1965, which included a facelift and a new full-width perimeter X frame with full coil suspension. This looks to be a faithful example of the model, and the seller notes that it’s a smooth cruiser thanks to power steering and two-range Powerglide automatic. All turn signals, brake, reverse, and headlights work, and a small spares package includes body-color matched rear fender spats.
