This 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is equipped with a 4-speed and powered by its original, numbers matching 350ci LT-1 V8. The car received a restoration about 4k miles ago and is finished in its original Cranberry Red with two wide black center stripes. This particular car includes power front disc brakes, power steering, shoulder and lap belts, center console, and correct high-back bucket seats. The selling dealer states that the car has no modifications from stock apart from a non-original radio. The selling dealer is offering this Camaro with the correct Delco radio and a clean California title.
The car was repainted in its original Cranberry Red with black stripes during the restoration (codes 75 and .19). Correct trim is fitted, including front and rear spoilers, rear bumperettes, and 5-spoke factory wheels.
F-60/15 Goodyear Polyglass tires with raised white letters are fitted.
The Z/28 interior has several distinguishing features which differentiate it from the base model Camaro, including a 150 mph speedometer, an 8,000 rpm tachometer. This example is also equipped with power steering, a 4-spoke sport steering wheel, center console, shoulder and lap belts, and power brakes. The interior is upholstered in black vinyl (code 775) with correct one-piece bucket seats. The seller states that the gauges, lights and accessories all work as they should. A Jensen cassette deck is fitted, and the correct Delco radio is included with the sale.
Unlike the base-model second generation Camaro, the Z/28 was equipped with a floor-hinged gas pedal. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles and is thought to be correct. The seller states that the original Muncie shifter is date coded for 1971, but may be a warranty replacement.
Power comes from a 350ci LT-1 V8 that produced 330 horsepower when new and is equipped with solid-lifters. The seller reports that the engine is numbers matching, though the partial VIN is obscured by the alternator and cannot be easily accessed. The transmission is a Muncie M-21 close-ratio 4-speed carrying the stamping P1M13B. The correct Z/28 dual-snorkel air cleaner is fitted. The block stamping is given as V0125CGP, indicating that the engine was built on January 25, 1971. The casting stamp, A-151, indicates that the block was cast on January 15, 1971.
The data pad is shown above, with the partial VIN, 71N533399, visible to confirm that the engine is numbers matching.
Numerous photos of the underside are provided in the gallery. The seller states that the floors are painted in the correct red oxide finish. Several of the Z/28-specific features are visible in the undercarriage photos, including the aluminum spacers and bumpers on the front control arms, larger sway bars, and the associated larger sway bar brackets. The rear end is a 10-bolt, 3.73 rear end with Positraction (code CG G 231 1 W). The brake lines, clutch, shocks, exhaust and suspension were all replaced at the time of the restoration.
The cowl tag is pictured above, with the Z28.19 code visible at the center right.
The service and restoration records will be included with the sale. The original warranty book, manual and keys shown above are included with the sale.
