This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS coupe was sold new from Red White Chevrolet of Lakewood, Colorado, and was refurbished by a Camaro Nationals judge in the late-1990s. The car was selected for GM’s Camaro Legends tour in 2001, at which time it was displayed at dealerships, NHRA events, and other shows and racing events. Finished in Teal Blue with white stripes and a black vinyl roof, the car is powered by a replacement 396ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a center console, Rally Sport concealed headlights and trim, power steering, and power-assisted front disc brakes. This Camaro RS/SS coupe is now offered with its removed steering wheel, an NCRS Shipping Data Report, a window sticker, periodicals featuring the car, and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.
The body was refinished in Teal Blue with white stripes during the late-90s refurbishment, and features include a black vinyl roof, RS-style hideaway headlights, an SS-style hood with raised simulated air intakes, dual side mirrors, front and rear spoilers, and chrome bumpers. The car is equipped with the “Vigilite” fiber-optic light monitoring system, which specified fender-mounted turn-signal indicators. Touched-up scratches are visible in the white stripe atop the left-front fender, and the seller notes paint wear beneath the fuel filler cap.
The 14″ Rally wheels are mounted with 225/70 BFGoodrich T/A tires with raised white letters. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl. Interior appointments include an AM radio, a heater, and woodgrain trim accents.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and an inoperative analog clock, while auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure are mounted ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 396ci V8 was reportedly installed in 1999 and is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor as well as a factory-style smog pump. The seller states that the oil was changed in preparation for the sale, and notes that the driver-side valve cover seeps oil.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
