1967 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe SS 396 4-Speed

The car was finished from the factory in Bolero Red (R-R) and exterior elements include a white front stripe and side pinstriping, chrome bumpers with rear overriders, a driver’s side mirror, front vent windows, “SS” and “396 Turbo-Jet” badging, and dual exhaust outlets exiting behind each rear tire. Exterior wear includes paint chips, indentations, and an area of bubbling just below the rear window. A selection of paint meter readings are provided in the photo gallery below.

Rally-style 14″ wheels wear bright trim rings with center caps and are mounted with F70-series Goodyear Polyglas-branded tires. Braking is handled by drums on all four corners and work during current ownership is said to have included replacing brake hoses and shoes, and wheel cylinders.

The cabin is equipped with front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black upholstery with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include hand-crank side windows, lap belts, a Hurst shifter, a heater and defroster, and a push-button radio. A split in the upholstery is noted on the driver’s seat bottom.

A three-spoke steering wheel fronts instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel level gauge, and an aftermarket tachometer mounted ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 81k miles, less than 100 of which have been added by the selling dealer.

The 396ci L35 Turbo-Jet V8 featured a single carburetor and was factory rated to make 325 horsepower. The selling dealer states the fuel tank was replaced in 1994 and work since the dealer’s 2020 purchase is said to have included flushing fluids and replacing the exhaust system, spark plugs, hoses, and belts.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed Muncie manual transmission and a 12-bolt Positraction rear end with 3.07:1 gears.
