This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS was purchased new at Ritchie’s Chevrolet in Homer City, Pennsylvania, reportedly by the seller’s grandfather. The car was acquired by the seller in 2003 and is finished in Fathom Blue over a blue vinyl interior. Power is from a 327ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with “Rally-Sport” badges, hide-away headlights, and a white nose stripe, and modifications include a four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a gear drive set, Pro Magnum roller rockers and pushrods, “camelback” cylinder heads, and Hooker headers. This Camaro RS is now offered in Florida with factory literature, its Protect-O-Plate, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in Fathom Blue (EE) and features a white nose stripe and pinstriping. The seller reports that the passenger-side quarter panel was repainted in the 1960s and notes sun fade, scratches, and lacquer cracks in the paint along with areas of rust on the lower body and at the edge of the cowl panel. Additional features include “rally-sport” badges, hide-away headlights, and chrome bumpers. The seller notes that the vacuum-operated headlight covers retract slowly.
14″ steel wheels wear chrome Chevrolet hubcaps and trim rings as well as Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires measuring 225/60 up front and 245/60 out back.
The seats are trimmed in blue vinyl with a matching dashboard, carpets, and door panels. Equipment includes a heater, a locking glovebox, and manual crank windows. The seller reports that the windshield wipers and the AM radio do not work.
The three-spoke steering wheel wears an “RS” horn button and frames a 120-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows just under 47k miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the seller.
The 327ci V8 sends power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes rust in the engine compartment. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale, and the seller states that the engine leaks oil and recommends replacing the gaskets. Modifications and equipment includes:
- Polished aluminum air cleaner
- Four-barrel carburetor
- Edelbrock intake manifold
- “Camelback” cylinder heads with aluminum valve covers
- Pro Magnum roller rockers and pushrods
- Gear drive set
- Chrome alternator and water pump
- Ceramic-coated Hooker Super Competition exhaust headers
- Aluminum oil pan
The last eight digits of the engine identification stamp match the last eight digits of the serial number on the dash. The “MA” suffix shown on the included Protect-O-Plate indicates a 210 horsepower, 327ci V8 paired with a manual transmission.
