This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 coupe is powered by a replacement 396ci V8 linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear end. The car was acquired by the owner in 2021 following refurbishment under previous ownership that included a repaint in red and an overhaul of the suspension and steering components. It is further equipped with 17” American Racing wheels, drilled and slotted front disc brakes, power steering, electronic ignition, a Holley carburetor, a black vinyl interior, and a Custom Autosound AM/FM radio with auxiliary input. This Chevelle SS396 is now offered on dealer consignment with service records, a car cover, two sets of keys, and a clean Wisconsin title in the owner’s name.
The Fisher-produced body left the factory in Mist Blue (D) and was repainted red under previous ownership. Exterior details include chrome bumpers and trim, simulated hood vents, dual side mirrors, SS and 396 badges, and dual exhaust outlets. The left-rear window is scratched, and the right-rear wheel arch trim is dented.
Polished 17” American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are mounted with 215/55 front and 235/55 rear Ironman GR906 tires that show 2021 production date codes. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by slotted and cross-drilled front discs and rear drums. The suspension and steering components are said to have been overhauled under previous ownership.
The cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black vinyl as well as bright trim accents throughout. Appointments include vent windows, SS396-branded floor mats, a heater, an analog clock, and a Custom Autosound push-button AM/FM radio with auxiliary input linked to aftermarket speakers. The center-console lid is scratched, and other imperfections are visible in the gallery. The horn is inoperative.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 120-mph speedometer and a fuel level gauge. A Sun tachometer is mounted to the steering column, and a gauge pod containing Equus supplemental gauges is fitted below the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 4k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 396ci V8 is fitted with a Holley carburetor, forged pistons, HEI electronic ignition, hydraulic lifters, an aluminum intake manifold, and a high-volume water pump according to the seller. The car is also equipped with a 100-amp one-wire alternator, and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle with 3.31:1 gearing.
Partial service records, two sets of keys, and a car cover are included in the sale.
