This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS coupe was produced at GM’s Atlanta, Georgia, facility, and it was acquired by the seller in 2014. The car was partially refurbished under previous ownership, and work is said to have included refinishing the exterior in metallic blue with black side stripes and completing an interior color change to black. The car is powered by a replacement 396ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and additional equipment includes a 12-bolt rear end, a Holley carburetor, an aftermarket camshaft, an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and cylinder heads, ceramic-coated headers, a 3″ exhaust system, four-wheel disc brakes, Cragar wheels, a center console, and front bucket seats. This Chevelle is now offered in Texas with service records and a clean Alaska title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Marina Blue (FF), the body was refinished under prior ownership in its current shade of blue with black side stripes and hood accents. SS-specific trim includes a blacked-out grille, faux hood scoops, 396 badging on the front fenders, SS396 emblems on the grille and rear cove, Super Sport script on the rear quarter panels, and ribbed rocker-panel moldings. Cracking is present on portions of the finish according to the seller, who notes a bubble on the base of the right door and corrosion on the trunk floor as depicted in the gallery.
Cragar S/S 15″ wheels feature a chrome finish and are fitted with Dayton white-letter tires. Disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors are fitted at all four corners.
A replacement black interior treatment extends from the bucket seats and rear bench to the padded dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Equipment includes a center console housing a Hurst shifter, a Custom Autosound stereo, and a trio of Stewart-Warner auxiliary gauges mounted at the base of the dash.
A three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, an column-mounted AutoMeter tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, battery charging, coolant temperature, and oil pressure, the latter pair of which are disconnected. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles, approximately 5k of which have been added by the seller. True mileage is unknown. The seller notes the clock is inoperative.
The replacement 396ci V8 was installed by the seller and is paired with a replacement Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear end. Features include a Holley carburetor mounted atop an Edelbrock Air-Gap intake manifold, a hydraulic roller camshaft, roller rockers, Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads, and ceramic-coated headers linked to a 3″ dual exhaust system featuring an H-pipe. An oil change was completed in preparation for the sale.
Additional underside photos provided in the gallery further show the underside, exhaust, transmission scatter shield, and suspension components.
