This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro is a red-over-red coupe that was acquired by the seller in 2008, and subsequent work consisted of refinishing the body, replacing the roof, floor and trunk pans, fenders, and quarter panels, reupholstering the interior, and installing a 454ci V8 linked with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle with a limited-slip differential. Additional details include a cowl induction hood, a rear spoiler, power steering, a Detroit Speed front subframe and tubular control arms, a four-link rear suspension, adjustable coilovers, 18″ Rally-style wheels, power Baer four-wheel disc brakes, tubular exhaust headers, and MSD ignition components as well as an aftermarket digital stereo and a Hurst shifter. This modified Camaro is now offered in Canada with service records and Alberta registration.
The body left the factory in Matador Red (RR) and is said to have been repainted under current ownership. Details include a cowl induction hood, a rear spoiler, 454 and Z/28 badging, chrome bumpers, bright metal wheel opening and rocker moldings, dual mirrors, and an electric wiper motor. The seller notes that the roof, floor and trunk pans, fenders, and quarter panels were replaced during the refurbishment. A scratch in the paint is shown up close in the gallery.
Chrome 18″ Rally-style wheels are mounted with Goodyear Eagle GT tires measuring 225/40 up front and 255/40 out back. The car has been fitted with a power steering system, a Detroit Speed front subframe, tubular front control arms, a parallel four-link rear suspension, and adjustable coilovers at all four corners. Braking is handled by power-assisted Baer calipers over drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench reupholstered in red vinyl joined by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Woodgrain trim accents the center stack and console, and details include a cabin heater, a Hurst shifter, Camaro-branded floor mats, lap belts, polished door sills, aftermarket speakers, and a retro-look digital stereo.
The Grant three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an inset clock. Ancillary instrumentation is mounted ahead of the shifter in the center console. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 572 miles, all of which have been added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The 454ci V8 crate engine was installed under current ownership and features an aluminum intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor, MSD ignition components, and tubular exhaust headers. An aluminum radiator with an electric fan has been installed.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle with a 3.53:1 limited-slip differential. The transmission and rear axle were installed under current ownership. An aftermarket dual exhaust system terminates before the rear axle.
