This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad station wagon was assembled in Cleveland, Ohio and was later refurbished and modified by the previous owner, actor and comedian Michael Richards, with a 350ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was refinished in two-tone black and white and reupholstered with a matching interior. Equipment includes 15″ steel wheels with chrome covers, bright-finished trim, a three-spoke steering wheel, and air conditioning. The car was acquired by its current owner in 2007, and subsequent work consisted of replacing the lower control arm bushings, intake manifold gasket, valve cover gaskets, and exhaust system resonators. This Bel Air Nomad is offered by the seller on behalf of its current owner with service records from current ownership and a California title.
Originally Dune Beige and Matador Red (715), the car was repainted in its current black and white scheme under previous ownership. Features include wrap-around rear glass, “Bel Air” and “Nomad” badging, styled tailfins with brushed metal inserts, sliding rear windows, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers and trim.
Steel 15″ wheels wear chrome Chevrolet covers and are mounted with 235/75 Goodyear whitewall tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The lower control arm bushings were replaced within the last 1k miles.
Twin bench seats have been reupholstered in patterned black cloth and white vinyl with matching door panels and replacement black carpets. Equipment includes lap seat belts, floor mats, an analog clock, chrome trim, a heater, air conditioning, and a locking glove compartment. The air conditioning system was recharged within the last 1k miles.
The replacement three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a matching steel dashboard that houses a 110-mph speedometer and gauges measuring coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer indicates 13k miles, and true mileage is unknown. A stock steering wheel is included in the sale.
The 350ci V8 was installed under previous ownership and is fitted with Corvette-branded valve covers and a polished air cleaner. Work within the last 1k miles consisted of replacing the intake manifold gasket, valve cover gaskets, and exhaust system resonators.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.
