This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad is a two-door station wagon that was produced at GM’s Cleveland, Ohio plant and underwent a refurbishment just prior to the seller’s acquisition in April 2017. The work included exterior and interior color changes to turquoise and white as well as installation of an aftermarket air conditioning system, wheels, front disc brakes, and stereo. Power is from a 265ci V8 mated to a three-speed column-shifted manual transmission. A fuel line was replaced in preparation for the sale. This Nomad is offered with service records from current ownership and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Originally Crocus Yellow and Onyx Black (696), the car was repainted in its current turquoise and white scheme under previous ownership. Replacement door seals, window trim, and taillights are also said to have been fitted. Noted imperfections include rust in the bottom corners of the left door jamb.
Chrome 15″ American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires measuring 235/70 all around. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering and front disc brakes.
The cabin wears replacement body-colored vinyl trim and houses a period-style digital stereo, an aftermarket air conditioning system with a Sanden compressor, and replacement seat belts.
A replacement steering wheel frames a 110-mph speedometer with a reproduction face and a five-digit odometer showing 27k miles. Actual mileage is unknown. The fuel and temperature gauges are said to have been changed.
The 265ci Turbo-Fire V8 was factory rated at 162 horsepower and features a replacement four-barrel carburetor. Additional underhood items include a combination generator and power steering pump, a dual-circuit brake master cylinder, and an Optima Yellowtop battery. A fuel line was changed in June 2020.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission, which is equipped with overdrive that is currently inoperable. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below.
