This 1970 Chevrolet Camaro coupe, known as The Scramjet, underwent cosmetic and mechanical modifications completed in 2016 by Penfound Design of Elyria, Ohio, after which it was acquired by the selling dealer in December 2021 and subsequently listed on BaT in February 2022. Finished in matte white over orange and black leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 7.0-liter LS7 V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a hand-formed nose and rear spoiler, fabricated bumpers and lighting, Art Morrison chassis sections, 19” Hot Rods by Boyd wheels, SSBC disc brakes, a Ridetech adjustable air suspension, Corbeau sport seats with racing harnesses, and a Kenwood touchscreen infotainment system. This modified Camaro is now offered by the selling dealer in California with build records and photos along with a branded Ohio title.
The car left the factory in Classic Copper (67) and was refinished in matte white with orange pinstriping and a gloss white center stripe. Features include a hand-formed nose and rear spoiler, motorized vents on the fenders, B-pillar, and hood, bumpers reportedly sourced from a 1971 Corvette, C4 ZR-1 taillights, and a single center-mounted exhaust outlet. Close-up photos of the paint and trim can be seen in the gallery below.
Hot Rods by Boyd 19” wheels feature dark gray centers and silver-finished spokes and are mounted with 235/35 front and 255/35 rear Toyo Proxes tires. The car is equipped with a Ridetech adjustable air suspension that was reportedly refurbished in preparation for the sale, and stopping power is provided by an SSBC disc brake kit.
The cabin features Corbeau sport seats trimmed in black and orange leather with “Scramjet” embossed in the seat backs. The dashboard, door panels, and center console are upholstered in orange leather, and amenities include power-operated windows and locks, air conditioning, and a Kenwood touchscreen infotainment system. The rear seats have been replaced by storage compartments, and the remote start, climate control, stereo, lighting, window, and lock functions can be controlled through a smartphone application.
A three-spoke aluminum steering wheel wrapped in leather frames digital instrumentation consisting of a speedometer and readings for oil pressure, engine temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The odometer shows zero miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 7.0-liter LS7 V8 is fitted with an orange engine cover, a silver-finished intake manifold, and an aluminum radiator and air intake pipe. An engine and transmission fluid service was performed in January 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside photos can be seen in the gallery below.
Build photos and documentation are included in the sale.
The Ohio title is branded “Not Actual Mileage: Odometer Discrepancy.”
